At our farm, we are proud to offer hand-gathered eggs from our pasture-raised laying hens, raised with exceptional care and a commitment to their well-being. From early spring to late fall, our hens roam freely across our pastures, foraging for grass, insects, and seeds while basking in fresh air and open space. During the Canadian winter, they are housed in a greenhouse and pasture pens with daily outdoor access, ensuring their comfort and health year-round. Supplemented with non-GMO feed, our hens thrive in a natural, stress-free environment, producing eggs that are rich in flavour and nutrition.
Benefits of Our Pasture-Raised Eggs:
Exceptional Flavour and Nutrition: The hens’ natural diet of pasture forage and non-GMO feed yields eggs with vibrant yolks and enhanced nutrients, including omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, and antioxidants, compared to conventional eggs.
Humane and Ethical Care: Our hens enjoy freedom to roam, dust-bathe, and socialize, living in harmony with their natural instincts. We prioritize their health and happiness, avoiding antibiotics, added hormones, and GMOs.
Seasonal and Sustainable Practices: From spring to fall, our hens contribute to our regenerative agriculture system, fertilizing pastures and enhancing soil health alongside our chickens, pigs, turkeys, and cattle. In winter, we reduce egg production to allow our hens a well-deserved rest, promoting their long-term health and ensuring high-quality eggs in the following season.
Limited, High-Quality Production: Due to Egg Farmers of Ontario regulations, we are capped at 99 laying hens without quota, resulting in a limited daily egg supply, especially in winter.
Availability and Ordering: Our eggs are a supplementary offering, available exclusively as an add-on with meat package purchases ($55 minimum for 1 dozen, $100 minimum for up to 2 dozen, when available). This reflects our commitment to farm sustainability and minimizing waste. We deeply appreciate your understanding and support for our seasonal production cycles, particularly during winter when egg quantities are lower to prioritize hen rest. Your patronage supports our dedication to ethical farming and the health of our flock.
Advocate for Change: To support increased direct-to-consumer egg sales, contact your local MP, MPP, Egg Farmers of Ontario, or the Minister of Agriculture to advocate for changes to current regulations.
By choosing our pasture-raised eggs, you’re savouring a fresh, nutrient-rich product while supporting a farm that values animal welfare, environmental stewardship, and sustainable agriculture. Our eggs are a testament to the care we invest in our hens and the land.
